Whispered Wanderings

I walked along a path I used to know:
so different now than when I was a child.
A lot of things have changed as time’s gone by.
The trees I used to know and love have been
absorbed into the ravages of time…
Where children used to climb and play their games,
not even stumps were left to sit upon.
Progress, some say, to have more houses built;
But I believe much more was lost, than gained.
Cat Stevens asked “Where do the children play?”
Important question as time hurries on.
So many questions we must ask ourselves:
or risk the loss of everything we loved.
