Whispered Wanderings

It really is a funny thing, time.
How one little word
can send you back to a long-ago day
as you close your eyes and recall:
the scent in the room
the way dust fairies had danced
in the light from the windows, and
the smile of the girl sitting next to you
as you turned your head in her direction
when hearing her name called.
