For my prompt today, I consulted Robert Lee Brewer’s 101 Poetry Prompts:
“CONSIDER SOMETHING THAT WILL ALWAYS STICK WITH YOU AND WRITE A POEM ABOUT IT. Maybe it’s something that happened to you when you were young. Maybe it’s a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe it’s just a random thing that someone said that has always stuck with you and even played an important role in decisions you’ve made afterward.”
“You’re Not Broken”
You’re not, you know;
I just wanted you to hear
those words.
Because the moment they were
said to me,
and my thirsty soul
soaked them up like
a wilted sponge trying to
absorb a whole lake…
well my dears
that
was the moment
that changed the trajectory
of my life;
and my long journey to Me
truly
began.
