NaPoWriMo Day 18

Today’s prompt: write an abecedarian poem – a poem in which the word choice follows the words/order of the alphabet. You could write a very strict abecedarian poem, in which there are twenty-six words in alphabetical order, or you could write one in which each line begins with a word that follows the order of the alphabet.

Another Day

Another day, winding down
before I’ve done all that I set out to do.
Can’t figure out how the time goes by, just
disappears in what must be somebody else’s magical blink…
Every day, lately, seems to
fare about the same;
Gone before I scarcely realize they have begun!
However,
I suppose I’m not really complaining about some days sliding by so fast;
just, the ones that I wish I could hold onto a little longer! Those, I will
keep tucked away in my heart for
looking back upon later…
Memories of the sweetest kind, those
nuggets of pure pleasure…
Others, of some accomplishment or other for when
perfection seems an impossible goal.
Quietly now I watch the setting sun, and
remind myself again: all that I am is already enough; that
success is for me alone to define.
Turning away from the window, my gaze falls
upon this home I have made for myself… I am
vested in this space that
welcomes me after a long day; though it will surely never be a
xerox copy of some fashionable icon’s home.
Yet, I will forever and
zealously defend my choices herein.
